Without teleporting on top of the bosses, all the adds will distract the urdars and then you'll never kill the bosses. Also, unless it's a nice +2 necro ammy or something, you're losing +skills and resists and stuff to equip whatever teleport item you have. Usually more than once, so you might not have enough charges. The reason you need enigma and not an item with charges (IMO - it could possibly be done with charges, but good luck.) is that you must teleport around to pull meph away from d and baal first, then you need to teleport directly on top of the boss you're killing to focus all your urdars attacks on it. When I had a gg necro on ladder I could do it in as little as 60 seconds. Things that will help in order of importance are fanaticism, +skills and resists. If your gear sucks it will be hard, but it can still be done. You need to revive lots of urdars, and you need enigma. It's good to have resists on a necro, and my usual setup had max resists, but for ubers I swapped hoto for beast. I have 29 unspent points.only skills maxed where skeleton mastery and raise skeleton, 1 point in amp damage/decrepify/summon resist/golem mastery/corpse explosion/revives/terror/life tap I read. Your minions take most of the elemental damage, you just have to be careful to avoid meph's lightning and run around to avoid being hit by the adds when fighting diablo and baal. I used to do it with 30-50 resists, depending which resist. Either way, minions in their current form could definitely use a little extra help, or at least some more inventive abilities and passives for creating them. All the talk about resists is making me dizzy. My current build uses Howl From Below, the amazing gloves that create kamikaze skeletons, and sending them sprinting off to explode against enemies feels more like what a minion-summoning Necromancer should be, rather than worrying about minion health and unit cap. But minions should feel disposable-why can't I have a giant horde of weak skeletons? Or some kind of spawn ability where I whack down a bone pile and it just keeps making new ones? You're often pushing against enemies above your level in higher difficulties, and maybe that's what has such a detrimental effect on your minions' effectiveness. If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say that the issue is partly to do with scaling. Howl From Below is good at making minions feel more disposable (Image credit: Blizzard)ĭon't get me wrong I love my minions, I'm just sad to discover that you have to give up so much to make them feel viable in the endgame.
